Does Notion save automatically?

If you’re wondering if Notion saves automatically, the answer is yes. In fact, Notion stores all of your changes, just like Google Docs and Evernote. Notion creates a backup of content every minute on its servers, then keeps it in their cloud. This makes it possible to revert to the old version – as long as you’re a Personal Pro subscriber – at any time.

Notion’s AutoSave is available on all devices and operating systems including Android and iOS. Since this storage is stored in the cloud, you need an internet connection, anything that changes offline will not be saved until the next time your device is connected to the internet. To combat the possibility of data loss, we recommend making a copy of your changes locally while working offline.

Don’t forget to back up your data

While Notion backs up all your changes to its servers, there’s no harm in storing a copy locally. It’s a good idea to export a copy of your workspace from time to time for safety’s sake. This allows you to download all of your pages and databases, as well as any files and images you’ve uploaded. We recommend uploading this backup to a cloud storage solution like Dropbox.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Select Settings & Members from the left sidebar.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Scroll down and select Export All Workplace Content.
  4. Click the link in the confirmation email to download the backup.
